Daruma doll coin banks are translated as "Genie" from Japanese Kanji. The Daruma Doll can grant its' owner one wish which should be made with a very specific phrase. The Daruma Doll is also a symbol of perseverance and determination, a symbol of remembrance of legendary monk Bodhidharma. In modern times the owner can make a wish by writing on a piece of paper and inserting it into the coin bank slot.
